Alum Blocks....whats your favorite ???

Is there different grades of alum ? I was curious if anyone has a go to brand ?
I have used it for years and it is a must have, just looking for opinions and info.

Thanks !

I found this old thread and figured I would add to it rather than start a new one .

Phoenix has a nice block of alum with a rubber band around it for grip.

It's my new fave .

I use the cheapest one from maggard's razors area. It's the only kind I've ever tried. I use it like once a week or more depending on whether or not I have no Knicks or ,I have quite a few Knicks, or when I get a really good shave and want to determine if I have like no Nicks.
More often than not it goes unused, but once a week just so it doesn't feel lonely. The aftershave Burns enough...:shaving:

Boring and predictable

+1

I have two blocks. One from RR that comes in a plastic case. I use that one in my travel kit. The one at home is the Osma. It took a while for the Osma to "break in." The RR was fine right from the start.

I got a fair sized cube a while ago from one of the B&B vendors.

It should last a long time unless I drop it

.

My favorite is the one I spent $20 on :)

Could only find it one place locally, and from the price you can probably guess where.

The Osma is a nice solid one piece block. The others I tried were pressed into a block shape and crumbled on me over time.
