I use it all the time but only really for skin stretching purposes during str8 shaving. Apart from that, only on the rare occasion where I cut myself in a bad way.

I use it after every shave,I apply a thin coat of lather wet the alum and rub it over my face, don't know why or what this does, but the Turkish barber I use when I'm in Turkey does it,so if it's good enough for him it's good for me:thumbup:

I've never used it. In fact the only applications I remember seeing it used in were some Tom & Jerry cartoons and I remember it shrunk their mouths down so they couldn't open them. I'm sure their application was used a bit differently then for shaving purposes but still.... Never used it.

I use an alum block after every shave. It closes up the pores and gives me instant feedback if I applied too much pressure.

I rinse with cold water, wet the alum bar and rub all over my face, Then I proceed to clean up the shave den before rinsing it off and finishing with some Witch Hazel and AS.

Pretty much the same for me, except I skip the witch hazel, dry my face and then apply an aftershave splash

I use WH instead. If I have a cut or nick that does not respond to WH, then I take out my styptic pencil.

60 miles south of st pete we do the same, tried a block once, couldn't see the point of it. I never saw john wayne, clint eastwood, or lee marvin use one either

I used to use it daily but it no longer part of my routine. I will occasionally run my thumb over it before my touch up passes. This allows for better grip which enables me to stretch my skin taut.
