alternate to halcyon

Is there an alternate to the buffing/brightening compound halcyon? Something that will brighten up the bowl as well as the stem?
Thanks,

I just use a beeswax/carnuaba/ oil mixture i melt in a brass shot glass

Pardon my ignorance, but it almost sounds easier just to order the halcyon online......... Please explain the advantage and where do you get beeswax? Carnauba I assume is just car wax (w/carnauba) and what type of oil?
thanks,

It all depends on what one wants. I love wax and wood so I make my own carnauba and bees I get in pure form and use oil as a base because the waxes are hard And the oil turns it to a creamy sealer and protectant. Only natural things on my pipes. Got my stuff on eBay

I use the Walker Briar Works stem restore kit. It has two compounds--one for removing stem oxidation, and the other for polishing and sealing stems and briar. It works quite well, although doesn't get quite as shiny as straight carnuba wax.

What do you use for buffing? I've just been buffing with a flannel cloth by hand. It's tedious work, but I can get satisfactory results. I have a few pipes I'd like to really shine up beyond what I can achieve by hand, though so I'd like a better solution.

dremel but they can burn the stem if done wrong, normally a wheel buffer with compounds
Microcrystalline waxes are a type of wax produced by de-oiling petrolatum, as part of the petroleum refining process.

i just use a box of tee shirts for a reserve and cut little pieces and use my own wax and my satisfaction is fine

here are some of my results
$IMG_0446.jpg$IMG_0532.jpg$IMG_0298.jpgbut it only last for so long, it is a continual process but impregnation of wax in goo for wood and stem, it still lets it breath

Can you give me the recipe/directions?
I can give you the information I just melt almond oil with carnauba wax in a brass shot glass There is no definitive proportion Only texture and work ability Heat up a little chunk of wax then pour in the essential oil let cool down and see if it is the texture you want to work with There is no correct formula

I lash down this buffer and apply to carnauba to the wool pad as it heats up it melts a small amount and then I place the pipe in the same region I applied the wax. Seems to work ok. The buffer was $19.95 at Harbor Frieght during one of there big tent sales... It was a damaged box item. Works perfectly well for me.
