What's new

Already got my 1st DE convert!

This afternoon I was showing my oldest son, who is 24, the fruits of my RAD over the past week. I've already been moving pretty fast, and have acquired 4 Gillette Super Speeds, one of each manufactured in '54, '56, '61, and '62. He asked if I would mind if he tried one, so I loaded up the '62 with a no-label Personna and gave him a quick tutorial about blade angle. Then I showed him how to make lather with the Williams Mug Shave Soap and Burmashave brush that I use. He did 2 passes, one WTG, and one ATG, and then said, "Wow, that's pretty smooth! I like how that soap leaves my skin feeling, too." His wife was pretty impressed, as well.:thumbup1: I told him he could have the SS if he wanted it, and of course he took it home with him. I think he plans to get the same soap and brush I have. No problem with going a little cheaper as a newbie, is there? I don't think I've done too bad with my first convert to the safety razor world, considering the fact that after he left I took a shower and then shaved with my '54 SS, and my shave today makes for a grand total of 5 (count 'em 5) shaves with a DE in my life. And I must say, I'm getting more and more impressed with my progress! BBS over probably 98% of my face, with only 3 passes. Not to shabby, if I do say so myself!

You've given him a good start, not just with the razor, but with the soap. Although I suppose I shouldn't bring a Williams argument to the safety razor forum.

I've got a 16 year old and a 12 year old approaching wet shave age. The 16 year old currently uses an electric. But as he continues to date girls, I do believe he will want a closer shave.
