I have been wondering if having a capped jar of alcohol to briefly dip my DE in after each shave would take the place of disassembling and drying/cleaning it every time?

why do you feel the need to disassemble the razor and clean it every time you use it? heck, i don't even do this when i replace blades. i just rinse it after each shave, shake it to get off as much water as i can, then put it in the holder. done deal.
I agree with ODJ, except I run a facecloth over the metalwork to mop up any excess water.

I guess it depends on why you're doing it. I have a small stainless steel bowl with plastic lid that I fill with rubbing alcohol (70%) that I use to dip my razors into post shave rinse-off - I shake off as much water as I can, dip the head in to help displace any water that's left, and then open up the DE / 3-piece / SE head and let it dry for the next shave.
Does it help? Not sure to be honest, but it doesn't hurt, and for some reason I have a heck of a lot of bottles of the stuff in the house so... why not? As always, YMMV.

i don't think there's any need to disassemble it and dry/clean it every time. i've never done so and i've never had any issues.
I have not been shaving long enough to see any damage/gunk from not cleaning the inside of the razor after each shave. Handling the blade is my least favorite part of the shaving experience and I would sooner replace the razor more often than take the blade out every day if that were the choices. I dry the outside with a towel and can't see any damage.
I have some 91% alcohol in a small plastic food tub with lid and I rinse my razor in that. As has been said, I don't know if it is needed, but it can't hurt. Alcohol won't hurt any plating. The Ph of alcohol is 7 -- no worries at all.
Now vinegar ... that's another matter altogether. DO NOT ever use vinegar to clean a razor.

i am thinking to do it for dual purpose but primarily because when i simply rinse and shake i have noticed the non-stainless like Tweet and even the stainless to a much lesser extent blades seem to rust. I would assume the alcohol displaces the water and also helps sterilize it at the same time. I really hate taking it apart each time and dont have a clever way to safely wipe the edges of the blade off.
+1. John's advice on both is right on, IMO. I rinse my razor under hot water, shake it to remove some of the water, and then dip it in isopropyl alcohol. I have been doing that on my Slim and FB for over 25 years (before that I just rinsed them) and they are in great condition.
I went a month or two with dipping the head of my razor in rubbing alcohol for the same reasons. The alcohol would displace water to prevent rusting, but I wasn't seeing any of that to begin with. It would also disinfect the blade, but I wasn't having any problem with it to begin with. I thought it mihgt help the blaces last longer, but it had no effect.
Same here. I just rinse, shake any water off and hang it to dry. I do loosen the head a turn or two to make sure I rinse under the blade though. No problem for me at all over the past 3+ years.
I don't even shake mine off....just goes back into the holder. 
The alcohol will instantly dry the razor, but it won't replace cleaning it.
I do the alcohol rinse in 91% for a warm razor, shake then hang. I like the idea of sanitizing the thing also for the next shave. I know it protects the blade edge especially here in humid Hawaii.
I hot water rinse and then dip mine in Bacardi 151 each time and never have to clean them. No soap scum.
Yeah, well in Hawaii you have more than just the humidity to deal with *LOL* That salty sea air and volcanic ash aren't helping anything either. A friend of the family used to have a couple auto body shops down there. If there's anyplace worse on a car than Detroit's salty highways, it's Hawaii.

sounds like it has worked for some others. i don't really expect it to prolong the blade life, just prevent it from rusting and keeping it sanitized without having to take it apart is enough for me.
I have alcohol stored in an old Razobrite Bath. When I am done shaving I rinse the razor, give it a quick dip and then hang it back up. When I started wet shaving I started to do this and just kept doing it. I do not know if it helps but it does not hurt so I keep doing it. Plus the Razobrite container looks good by my shave gear.
Well, rocket science this ain't! All you need to do is rinse and store. No need to jump through hoops! I spray with Scrubbing bubbles once a week to remove soap residue, but daily cleaning beyond a quick rinse is overkill IMHO.
