What's new

Aftershave, without shaving

OK, I'm still fairly new to all this wet shaving thing, but I'm already super addicted.

My shave last night was so good, I don't need to shave tonight.. there just isn't enough there TO shave.

Anyway, after my shower tonight, I dried off and before I fully realized what was happening... was applying Skin Bracer as if I'd just shaved. :001_tt1:

Am I weird?! Or does that mean I fit in around here?

I put some AS on at night right before bed as a relaxing habit. It is pleasurable to turn over in the middle of the night and catch a whiff of your favorite aftershave on your pillow as you fall asleep again. A few members do it as well, I remember there even being a thread talking about it.

No that isn't weird. If it feels right then do it. I use splashes over balms, in part, because of the oil control properties. If I'm feeling a bit oily on the face, but am not home to wash up, a quick splash of AS can dry it right up.

Not wierd at all. You are welcommed with open arms.

Enjoy any scent you want at any time. There are no rules. In fact people in black suits and sunglasses will NOT knock on your door and whisk you away in the middle of the night.

If I haven't shaved, a dab a little aftershave under my ears instead of covering my whole not-beard.
If Thayer's is on the counter, though, I'll cover my whole face with it, shave or no shave.

Both!
I often use Nivea ASB, whipped shea butter, or Proraso pre-shave cream at night or on the rare morning when I do not shave. I find it minimizes irritation.

There is certainly nothing weird about it and you are free to do what you choose.

I don't do it however, because I view aftershave as a medicinal product, meant to disinfect and heal my skin. This scent, which only lasts a short period of time, is a pleasant artifact of the tonic.

Cologne on the other hand is strictly about the scent and you may be interested in it for that reason.

I did this twice yesterday. My shave was good Saturday, I thought, until I was at work and my face was extremely irritated and felt a bit dry. Yesterday I went out and bought some aftershave, never used it before, and put it on. Went home, washed my face, put more on. Starting to feel better now.

I did this a few times over the weekend. I decided to give my face a couple days off (Even though it drove me slightly bonkers), So I splashed on some A/S and my little world was all the better for it.

Ever read the bottle of Dominica aftershave? It's used for everything. Bug bites. small cuts, adding to bath water, after shower, after shave, a skin refresher and the list goes on.

To wit...

I use Lucky Tiger Aftershave and Face Lotion throughout the day on the weekends, especially if I've been in the sun. It helps soothe and refresh.

I'm one of these members. TOBS shaving shop gets me all warm and fuzzy for beddy bye.
