Aftershave Haul

After a much anticipated wait, my 3 aftershaves arrived from WCS today. 2 keepers out of the 3.

1. Captain's Choice Bay Rum- I have used this for a long time and it is my favorite splash.

2. Myrsol Balsamic Water- Wonderful medicinal scent. Great take on lavender. Anxious to use this tonight.

3. Alt Innsbrusck- this one will be hitting the BST as soon as I can post it. Far too floral for me. I opened it up and closed it up. I find this unfortunate because it gets very good reviews as an AS in regards to skin care. I just cannot handle the scent.

Myrsol is killer stuff. I have the Agua Balsamica and Agua de Limon. Jonesing to try some of their other stuff like Special K or Project K or whatever(Formula K) and F/Extra. Great packaging too, very retro IMO. Enjoy!

You can't judge a scent by how it smells in bottle!!

Scents change with actual application to the skin, and they also change as they go their their various phases (opening/ top notes, middle/ heart notes, and base notes).

Honestly, you are writing a scent off, without giving it anything approaching a fair shake!!

I agree 100%, I hated Alt when I opened up the bottle. After wearing it I hated it even more but you have to give it a chance on your skin.

It is true. You should at least put some on your wrist for a few hours to really test it.

Ok, I put some on my wrist. The scent changed significantly but it is still one I do not care for. It was far less floral but still not something I would enjoy.

The Alt is heavenly and should be tried again. However, I feel the opposite way you do about the captain's choice bay rum. I always smell like a ham when I wear it. I really need to get rid of it. If anyone is interested let me know and I will send it your way.

I have a sample of Captain's Choice waiting for me when I get home and I can't wait to try it. I've only smelled it in the bottle and a drop rubbed on my hand, but I feel that it smells very similar to Pinaud VI Bay Rum, lots of clove and some cinnamon. I really want to try some of Myrsol's offerings, the bottles look good and the reviews are very encouraging, plus I love the 'classic' scents.
