Aftershave for Autumn

Hi all,

Since autumn is upon us here in Michigan, I am looking for a fitting aftershave scent to match. Something woody, clove-y or cinnamon-y, perhaps? What scents have people tried that remind them of fall?

I generally prefer lotions, but especially good splash recommendations would also be welcome.

Bay Rum! Dominica, Ogalalla, Pinaud, etc.

Another option (if you can find it) is L'Occitane's now-extinct Cade splash. That always said "Fall" to me.

I find that Fall is great for Lilac Vegetal, it's earthy tones are a nod to the dormancy of life, and the promise of rebirth after the coming slumber.

For Winter I like Lilac Vegetal, it's soothing properties can calm even the roughest of northern blasts.

In Spring, I prefer Lilac Vegetal, as its fragrant Lilac Notes remind you of the blooms that will soon burst upon the wild.

Finally, Summer for me means Lilac Vegetal, it's like a walk through a shaded wood, with the breeze carrying both the hints of a Lilac Bush ahead and the blessed earth on which you tread to get to it.

Ogallala Bay Rum is pretty good too.

Tell us what your favorite is, Phil.

Well, after all this, I'd better run out and get some Lilac Vegetal! (and extra points to Phil for poeticism)

I will definitely also check out some of the Bay Rum options; from the descriptions I am reading, it sounds perfect.

Thanks everyone, this should hold me until winter comes :D

I see you are a newbie, so I hope that you know what you are getting into ... have you ever tried this stuff?

My suggestion is Sandalwood -- DR Harris or TOBS -- or something with sandalwood and musk.

If he doesn't like it he can always start soaking his old stiff paint brushes in it. Atleast he could still use it for something. :tongue_sm

I like the various bay rums for this time of year, and one that straddles the bay rum line and which works for me very well into the Fall, is Royall Spice. Quite a nice scent, not overpowering and the right complexity and body for the colder days.

Best,

Chris

Some good picks already - Speick, Sandalwood (your choice), Old Spice, Royall Spyce, Musgo Real, C-M Jockey Club (barbershoppy but I find it great in the cooler months), TOBS Mr. Taylor.

For me Bay Rum is a hot weather splash especially my favorite Dominica with Lime.
