Hi everyone - yes, another recrafting/resoling thread, but I would like to hear from people who have used the AE recrafting service and B. Nelson, or similar. I have two pairs of AEs that need recrafting (on one the heel is coming off and the other has a nickel-sized hole in the sole). My understanding is that if you use another resoling or recrafting service, it "voids the warranty" of AE's service (i.e. you cannot use them after having it recrafted from a 3rd party). But I'm particularly interested in B. Nelson and their service with the Rendenbach soles. Based on searches, it seems that AE only uses the Rendenbach soles on their cordovan shoes and is about 50/50 on their calf shoes (mine are calf). So my questions are:
(1) Is Rendenbach worth it? I live in Boston and so I deal with a lot crappy weather (I have galoshes for rain and snow so its not like I'm tromping around in leather-soled shoes in snowdrifts).
(2) Would I be able to get double-oak soles from AE?
(3) Would B. Nelson just do a heel repair? AE does.
