Advice on a Found Razor

My dad, knowing I'm into shaving stuff, recently picked up this razor at a junk sale.

I figured if there was anyone who knew anything about it, they'd be here, so Ihave two questions about it for you guys:

1) Is it a collector's item that should be saved? He seems to think it is (as does the box, misspelling aside).

2) If not, is it a decent straight razor for me to get honed and try shaving with? I've been looking at low-cost ways to upgrade from DE to straight razors, and $0.00 is a hard price to beat.

Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure these are made in Pakistan of questionable steel. I have never had one, so I can not say for sure.

I'm pretty sure it's masonic, yeah. Shame if it's made from crappy steel. I was hoping I'd lucked out into a good starter blade...

It looks a bit like a Joseph Allen Non XLL, but the lack of tang stamps, miss spelled etching, and wonky looking bevel makes me think modern third world copy.

Also, anything that has a box that says "collectable" (sic) probably isn't collectible . . .

If it can be honed and take an edge that lasts for a few shaves, great! I'm guessing it was produced more as a display piece and not for actual shaving use.

Yeah, shows how wonky deadlines have got me that I saw the typo and just went "Oh, misprint, cool!"
