Advice: New Rooney

Looking for a new Rooney. I've narrowed it down to a Rooney 2/1, 3/1, or 3/2 from Vintageblades. I want the brush primarily for creams, secondarily for soaps. I currently have a Rooney 1/1 (great for soaps, especially face lathering) and a Vulfix 1000A.

Suggestions and thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Well if you already have a Rooney 1/1 I would say you don't really *need* another brush. But I understand. :001_smile

I say go for something completely different -- try a high-quality boar brush. Omega brushes are well thought of. I like my Pro 49" model. But because they are so inexpensive compared to Badger brushes I just ordered a boar brush from http://vintagescent.com/shaving-brushes-c-5. (See. I said I understand!) I ordered the 620 model but have not received it yet so can't say anything from first hand experience and have no good reason to recommend that model over any other. I do hear lots of good things right here on B&B about the brand (Semogue) and the store (Vintage Scents). I picked this one because it is fairly small compared to my Omega.

I recommend the 2/1 in super silvertip. It's got a great ergonomic handle, and the larger loft makes it good for creams as well as soaps - and makes for a softer face feel during lathering.

I like my Rooney for soaps, and I like my Shavemac silvertip for creams -- ultimate luxury. If you want another Rooney for creams, as Andrew said, the style 2 makes the most sense because of its higher loft.

If you want a different feel the 2/1 is your answer. Great brush, more flexible than the others. It will work great with creams but will handle soaps just fine as well.

I think the smallest size Rooney makes for a better soap brush, so I'd agree with the opinion of another brush or a larger Rooney to use with creams.

I love my 2/1 in super. Despite its small knot size, it's quite lofty and is so densely packed that when it blooms (after a couple weeks of use) it feels like a much bigger brush.

I have a 2/1 finest in faux horn I use for creams. Wonderful brush. Firm but not aggressive. I agree with the loft being quite large for the brush size.

Everytime there is a thread about Rooney brushes by credit card starts to burn...

I am in a simiar battle of sanity as you KCD. I think if I have to I'd go with the 2/1 or perhaps, dare I say, The Alibaba in a size 1.

I have a 1/1 and a 2/1 and I find that I use my 2/1 more than any of my other brushes. You can't go wrong with it. It is my favorite badger brush

I had a 3/2. It's a large brush, so if you like that sort of thing it's a good buy. I found it to be too big for my tastes and sold it off. I prefer more modest sized brushes. It was no doubt a great brush though...
