Adding Mentholatum to shaving cream.

I really enjoy shaving creams or soaps with a strong menthol effect. I started experimenting with some stuff and I found this in my bathroom. Its Mentholatum Cream. Its found in most drugstores and is a staple in any Chinese household. I added a dime sized amount of this stuff with some of my Kiss My Face shaving cream. Initially, the lather would not build right away but, after working it for about 30 seconds it really started to lather. The smell was very strong of menthol and the menthol feels great during and after the shave. The effect stays for about 10 mins after shaving and applying ASB. It is very refreshing. Has anybody ever tried this? Is this bad? I plan to add this to my rotation, especially when it starts to get really hot outside.

And I thought it was just for mosquito bites. You should add a bit of 白花油 to really spice things up!

Actually, on reading the list of active ingredients (wintergreen, eucalyptus, peppermint, menthol, camphor, lavender), I can imagine more than a few members here working it into their routine, terrible chemical burns withstanding.

Guaranteed to have every Chinese granny eating out of the palm of your hand.

I find it odd that Mentholatum is a staple in Chinese households. The head office and factory used to be next door to a friend's house in Twyford near Reading, Uk! They've moved to Scotland now. A bit like the old Vicks stuff on steroids!

They also make the Deep Heat liniment someone mentioned.

I can't read chinese but, is that stuff "ki fung yo" (Cantonese). If it is, that is another staple in a Chinese home. I have not seen one in my house since my grandmother passed away, but it was some strong stuff. Its basically menthol oil used for everything to stomach aches to skin rashes.

found it...

This stuff might actually work better then Mentholatum. Its liquid and might be easier to mix into cream or even melt into soap....I might try this tomorrow with some VDH deluxe soap.
