Acquisitions for July 2010~

Ok mine's a large score for a brief period of time. I just happened to hit all the shipping carriers at the same time I guess.

The breakdown:
We're got a PIF tub of JM Fraser's, which is some of the nicest feeling cream I've tried. The Ogallala Bay Weiner Wash, because my best friend deserves to smell like the manly Golden Retriever he is! Madame Scodioli's Laudanum shave soap, which is a new brand I found. It smells absolutely amazing. Manliest scent I've found. I will be lathering it up soon and writing a review, be on the lookout for it. A PIF puck of Benton Clay's lime bergamot, which also smells great.
My new (first) straight is a Dovo 5/8 from SRD. Under that is the red latigo strop and a shirt from Madame Scodioli. Gotta love the women who will share your shave den, right?
Another Madame Scodioli product, Dust Shaker solid cologne. It's labeled as mahogany and sandlewood, but again it's a very masculine scent I can't pinpoint. We're lucky enough to have an actual C.O. Bigelow b&m store in Columbus, so I went and got some Elixir Black aftershave. And finally my PIF Booster's Iced Lime.
That's a very good day, no matter how you slice it!

Stole this off of UK Ebay today. Notice in the lid it says 'PATENT APPLIED FOR'. This is one of the firsts they made. I've already got one of these and in the lid it says 'PATENTED'. Also the one I already have is missing the blade box and doesn't have any paperwork. $14.95 and I was the only bidder. I'm guessing people don't find these collectable but they have to be one of the most unique vintage razors out there. It's a spring in the handle. You push up on the handle and this raises the head where you can spin the head around or flip the head over.. to make use of all 4 cutting edges of the blade. The blade is proprietary so this is definitely a collector moreso than a shaver. But you could shave with it if you knew how to sharpen and hone a thick blade, which this blade is. Anyway, I'm excited I got this.

Ok, not as impressive as the above, but totally meaningful. Ziplepingouin, unsolicited, mailed me a sample of Irisch Moos all the way from Belgium.

You should have seen the look on SWMBO's face when I told her I bought Bay Rum wiener wash. She already thought my AD was out of control, at that point she thought I had gone off the deep end!
$20 for a 175mmx40mm Vintage Coticule... can't complain about that... now I just have to figure what I'm going to use to back it.

Today was a good day in the mail. Amboyna Tipped cooncatbob's handle with replated NEW head. Another Stainless Steel darwin razor giving me 2 now. A cased Hoffritz slant in really, really good condition. Even had original sales box.
Yesterday I got my UK silvertip knot from Tony and am planning on knotting it in the custom butterscotch brush shown.

Today was a good day in the mail. Amboyna Tipped cooncatbob's handle with replated NEW head. Another Stainless Steel darwin razor giving me 2 now. A cased Hoffritz slant in really, really good condition. Even had original sales box.

I wasn't even sure that it was a coti. I almost didn't take the risk buying it. The stone itself didn't tell me anything (looks like a really unusual cut arkansas in those pictures), but those scratches are exactly how coticules scratch and I've not met another stone yet that scratches like that, so I gambled and it paid off. I'll post pics of the stone soon. It's a beaut.

Also, my Ambrose strop, my Geo Wost Full wedge Pipe razor, and a couple nice brushes arrived. I'll have good pics of the strop in a few days when I post a review.

I pretty sure it's the mens. Otherwise I now own two ladies as they are the same length
Haven't shaved with them yet, but the 2 I own have pretty different heads. One is more squarish (the one pictured) the other is more rounded at the corners.

I think the ladies is around 3 inches, maybe 3 1/2 and the men's is around 4. The ladies came in a tapered case while the men's came in a square case.

I have to stop coming to this thread. I keep learning about new things and then become inflamed with AD for them. I must have some of that Laudanum soap! I went to that vendor's store and they were sold out though...
