? about some old razor blades

I was going through some of my dad's stuff as he passed away last year. There are some razor blades that I found. These would have to be at least 15 years ago as that is about when he stopped using safety razors and started using a Excel Sensor or whatever was the rage at the time. The razors say Barbershop and Solingen - W Germany on them. Anyone know anything about these? Also, would these still be sharp after so many years or do they dull with age?

Are these razor blades or the blades on straight razors?

Got any pictures?

Once we know what exactly it is we are dealing with, we can move it to the forum where you'll get the most help.

He says "Safety Razor" so I'm assuming he's found a packet of double-edged safety-razor blades.

If they haven't been used and haven't been touched, and they're clean and rust-free, I reckon they'd still be sharp and safe to use.

Kinda depends, I think. No telling how sharp they were to begin with. We don't know if they are stainless or carbon steel. Oxidation causes dulling, and the actual cutting edge could have a fair amount of oxidation that couldn't necessarily be seen with the naked eye.

I guess if they look clean and they're still in the package, there'd be one sure way to find out: lather up and give 'em a go. If they are dull, you'll know it right away.
