Hey all,
Recently finished a whole bunch of new wood handles here. Lots of different woods - some new to me altogether.
I know you guys get off on this stuff as much as I do, so... enjoy the pics! Feedback as always is welcome and appreciated - good, bad or in-between!
Cheers all!
Rob
Ash - This one is a special one to me. I recently got a new bandsaw and built a log mill for it. This brush was made from an ash log I have had drying for over a year. I had always wanted to mill my own lumber - this is from the first log I milled!
Buckey burl - I've done a bunch of buckeye lately, and this piece was a little lean on natural features so I tried something new. I stained the wood with a crimson red color with a couple heave coats. I then sanded it selectively to wear down to the wood color in a few places. I love the result!
The always great to work with, Chakte-Kok
I love walnut, but it can be a difficult wood to work with. Lots of voids and natural oils to contend with. I'm starting to learn with walnut, the real beauty may be in letting those natural features shine instead of minimizing them.
