A Visit to Jermyn Street

I couldn't resist a walk in to TOBS today as I'm staying in Mayfair :w00t:

I walked in with the intention of buying a tub or two of cream. I walked out with a silver tip , new Merkur travel razor and three tubs of fantastic smelling creams (Sandalwood, Eton College and Jermyn Street Collection). The Eton smells amazing!

SWMBO didn't mind :001_tt2:

Have RAD, will travel!

SWMBO and I will be in London for three days next August before catching a cruise. I have already informed her part of one of the days will be dedicated to a pilgrimage to Bond Street. She just rolled her eyes...:001_rolle Do they ship stuff home for you? I suppose so for a fee; I don't want to carry anything more than absolutely necessary in our luggage. I really got an eye roll from her when I bought a travel scuttle!

Very nice, about the acquisitions and the wife's approval.

Hehe. That would be my wife's exact reaction if I were you.

Just made the pilgrimage to Jermyn Street last week as well as St. James Street. "Heaven, I'm in Heaven." Hope stopped at Hildritch and Key next door to TOBS to check out the sweet Bates hats! What a glorious day that was.

The catalogue says they ship to North America for £10.95 up to 500g parcel. I'm actually checking a bag this time so no worries about shipping. There are two barber seats in the back, but I didn't need a shave.

London is at the top of my list of cities I wish to visit before my health is so poor I'm no longer able to travel. London, Dublin, Paris, Rome, Athens.

I would spend a whole day shopping Jerymn Street, St. James St. That would be a glorious day. Congrats, and pics would be great.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's in St James st?

I've never been personally, but I believe it's along the same lines as Jermyn St. Jermyn St and St. James St intersect each other, at the far west end of Jermyn St. Truefitt and Hill is on St. James St, just south of The Carlton Club. Here is an quote from Wikipedia on St. James Street:

St James's Street was built up without an over-all plan[SUP][1][/SUP] but received a boost with Lord St Albans' planned construction of St. James's Square. Today St James's Street contains several of London's best known gentlemen's clubs, such as Brooks's,[SUP][2][/SUP] the Carlton Club and White's, some exclusive shops and various offices.

Cheers. I would love to be there personally and walk the streets to see what there is to see.

Wow, I can't believe the demand for photos.
Taylor Of Bond Street always makes me chuckle due as they have some 'old fashioned' items in their window. Including shoe horns - one of which is around £400. They do have quite the collection of shaving creams.
Also, round the corner there is Trumpers (Geo F Trumpers) and they have their own shaving range too, including skin foods etc

Vicariously visiting!

I'll be there for a week, with no pre-set itinerary, starting next Wednesday. Fully intend to just wander in that area, walk in and sniff. I'm a little afraid to actually go into the famous haberdashers; probably just stand with my nose pressed against the window like an urchin outside a candy store'

Is there any sort of general day tour you can recommend? Like the top of a double decker bus, that sort of thing? The map distances make it appear that just sauntering around will cover what I want to see
