A Tale of Two Brushes

I received two identical shaving brushes that were purchased at Caswell-Massey and are made of bristle and badger hair. They have the number 41403 on the handle. Unfortunately, one of the brushes is losing its hair faster than I am! :w00t: I end up getting a number hairs on my face when I lather up. The other is fine. I have a total of five brushes and change brushes every third day. All of the brushes are cared for identically: cleaned, gently squeezed and shaken, and toweled dry.

Any ideas as to what is happening and how to fix this?

I don't think it is anything you are doing or that it is limited to Caswell-Massey. A number of new brushes shed some hair for a number of shaves and then taper off. This may be due to the hair not being set all the way down in the glue. If it continues you may want to check into exchanging it.

Unfortunately, I did not state that the brushes are more than four years old. One has never shed any hairs, the other started about one year ago.
