Made this one up today for a regular customer who wanted a more traditional design with a straight cut end. I had been making them in my Premium Steerhide but this one is in Horween Veg. Tanned Horsehide with a Genuine Flax Linen secondary component. I like adding the slim matching "grip" caps to stabilize the leather laterally and provide a slightly easier grip.

This is a light to a light medium. It has a very slight "peach fuzz" finish to it so it has a bit of a velvety feel when stropping. The horse butts usually show up with either a nearly glazed, super fast finish or a slightly matt, almost peach skin finish to them. They do have a firmness both in surface temper and in how they flex as opposed to the Notovan horse butts which are thinner and very supple with a more magnetic draw.
