What's new

A return and a request for cream recommendations

Hello everyone. My, it seems it has been a long time since I posted. I've been busy with many things including a new job and the associated travel and training. I hope to become active on this board once again (now that i've gotten my DE's and injectors out of storage). Anyway, I was hoping that if I posted what my favorite creams are someone might be able to recommend me a cream or 2 to try.

My favorites are (in no particular order): TOBS Lemon Lime, AOS Sandalwood, TH Trafalgar (LOVE THIS ONE). I was thinking of trying the TH Sandalwood and maybe the TH West Indian Limes to round out my creams. I enjoy both my other TH cream greatly and they don't dry me out or leave me overly oily (I live in the desert). I'm also interested in the new Sandalwood by Proraso. I cannot have anything mentholated as it seems to burn me and I don't like that. Any associated aftershaves are also appreciated.

It's great to see y'all again and look forward to your recommendations.

Jeff

Try Cella, its more of a croap but it gets put in the cream category. I tried Cella for the first time the other night and WOW is all I can say. GREAT performer. Also try Queen Charlotte Soaps creams. My favorites are the Queen Charlotte and Rose Otto scent so far(I've only tried a handful of them).

Also, musgo real.

It depends on which one the original (dark green) has menthol in it, not as strong as Proraso, but still probably not worth taking the chance. That said it is a very good performer nice and slick, and as luck would have it, they've just released a load of new unusual fragrances such as oak moss, lime and basil, spiced citrus and orange amber.

T&H Grafton is tops for me as far as scent goes. All of them are superb performers so it is mainly up to what smells the best to you.

Trumpers coconut oil cream is another top shelf product as far as performance goes

Trumpers limes lit me up like pepper spray but you might enjoy it. Smelled great, just turned me beet red for a couple of days.

You might consider La Toja Sensitive SC, it has extra moisturizers and a 5oz Tube is $6.99 @italianbarber.com, it normally runs $9-10 per tube.

Since you like Trafalgar and are interested in other T&H creams it might be worth it to you to try out one of the T&H sample packs if you have not done so already. Might be a good way to try out the different scents before ponying up for a full tub. The sample pack below has cream and corresponding AS balm samples as well as a sample of their pre-shave oil. The second one also contains cologne samples in addition. Not sure if thats what your looking for but I thought I might bring it to your attention.

Sample Pack with creams, balms, and colognes:http://www.truefittandhill.com/detail_10106__37.html

Almost forgot but I'm fairly sure there is a discount code for these packs floating around somewhere on B&B.

here is link to vendor discounts mentioned above by Krato:

and i second his recommendation of the T&H sampler pack. It was the way I found one of the very few Sandalwoods i actually like. Also don't forget Garry's Sample Shop (gaj90027) in the vendor section - lots of good stuff to try inexpensively. There has been a lot of love on B&B for the "new" DR Harris Windsor , I am personally undecided since every time i've tried it I felt like i should be putting on a suit, tie and silk braces and heading to a business meeting in London. As a happily retired person that's not necessarily a good feeling :001_unsur Anyway, welcome back and happy hunting

+1. So far I haven't found a single T&H scent I like enough to buy a full tub but it's been fun to try them out. The best cream I have used are GFT Coconut and Castle Forbes.

If you like sandalwood, the Proraso red is definitely worth a try. I don't like sandalwood, but I have to admit it performed beautifully. I would also second the suggestion of D.R. Harris Windsor. The scent is my current favorite, followed closely by Trafalgar, and it performs, in my opinion, even better than T&H.

I have purchased a tube of the Proraso Red from WCS and am awaiting it's arrival. I'm excited to try this so called Proraso Lather without the fear of Menthol. Cheers and thanks for the recommendations everyone.

Speick is a must try. It gets plenty of love around here, very reasonably priced, good lather, and good smell.
