a question about feather AC blades

So a few months ago I bought myself a Feather AC and a stack of blades. I'm finding I only get about three shaves out of a Super Professional blade, and only two from the standard Pro blades. I used to get about 15 shaves (albeit less close) from a single Fusion cartridge.

Is this likely to be a technique thing, or do I just have really hardcore hair?

I only ask 'cos I keep hearing how insanely sharp and long-lasting AC blades are supposed to be.

Also, if anyone knows where I can buy AC blades in the UK, that would be much appreciated. Shipping from the US is a killer :001_smile

here is the deal.

Your cart' has 4 blades, they are going to last a little longer than a single blade. The single blad has to do all of the work as the cart'.

don't worry about it. These things are cheaper than cart's anyway.

Fair enough. Wasn't sure if perhaps I wasn't quite doing it right, had heard of people getting loads of shaves out of AC blades. I only ever got two or three shaves from my DE too, even with Feather blades.

Actually, now you mention it, the maths adds right up. 3 shaves from a single blade, 15 from a five-blade cart.

Once shipping over the Atlantic and customs charges have been factored in, it's debatable what's cheaper. But it's not about money. :001_smile

I get an average of two shaves from DE blades, but seven out of Feather Super Pro.
Really don't know what to make out of it.

It appears to be a technique issue. As many feather users get mor profecient in the use of the blade the number or shaves per blade increases. It can be astonishing what you may accomplish with the blades. I'm currently using the guarded blade with my DX and Ive been using it for at least 2 weeks of shaving. Consider that I don't shave everyday. I shave every other day so that about eight shaves so for. Im also able to get a DFS+/BBS shave out of a guarded blade. Up until recently my technique sucked and I had to dump alot of blades cause I thought that was the problem. I have to admit that I was. Hope that helps and remember if it skips or cuts you wrong its disposable, dump the blade and move on.

I got pretty decent shaves off a feather AC, but once I made the full switch to vintage straights my shaves improved dramatically. Not saying that the Feather is bad or anything, that was just my personal experience.
