A Nightmare on Elm Street

Why bother? It will never compete with the original.

That was my first thought. Then I saw the trailer and thought it wouldn't be a reinterpretation so much as simply an updating/remake.

Jack Earle Haley is a good fit for Kruger though I don't think Kyle Gallner is likely to be the next Johnny Depp.

I'm excited. I love horror movies and always thought Nightmare on Elm Street was one of the better ones. I really didn't like the new Friday the 13th, but this one has promise.

Im a wierd one when it comes to these slasher movies. I love background. Hopefully this new nightmare gives us more of the Kruger backstory.

With there be another rap video with Kruger in it?

Looks well directed. I doubt it will have the same humor that defined the originals, but as a horror movie, I expect it will succeed.

I never liked any of them (besides Freddy vs. Jason)...I tried and tried but couldn't get into it. Looks good though.

BTW...check out on wikipedia, but here's an interesting story:

The main actor in the movie who plays Freddy was supposed to play Johnny Depp's role in the original; they both showed up to the movie (Depp went as a friend while the other auditioned) and the directors liked Depp so they auditioned him.

if its done in the same manner as the new texas chainsaw massacre, hills have eyes definitely not, if its done like rob zombies halloween, yes. i agree with storor50 about more backstory of kruger. but if they "update" it like the new friday the 13th... the hell with em.

Every time I see one of these remakes I just scream WHY????

Unless they can get Johnny Depp to reprise his roll, get sucked into the bed and then sprayed all over the ceiling, I do not see how this movie could be as good as the original. :tongue_sm

Another classic 70's/80's film being remade and destroyed like The Omen, The Hills Have Eyes, The Wickerman, The Last House On The Left, Dawn Of The Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th. The list goes on...
