A lavender that smells like Yardleys?

So, which of all the lavender creams out there smells closest to Yardley's English Lavender or Lavender and Wisteria bath soaps? The only one I've tried so far is Herbs of Bulgaria, which was heavenly just out of the tube, but took on a slightly overpowering perfumy scent as I whipped it up. Still nice, but maybe a bit much. Which one should I try next?

I will disagree with CHENG the Harris Lavender soap does not smell like the Old Yardley. I have used a lot of Yardley shaving soap and I have used many a lavender cream and soap and nothing smells like the Old Yardley shaving soap to me. I assume that's what you're alluding to. If it's something else you're talking about then I can't comment because I haven't used it.

I hope you find something that does smell like the Old Yardley and let us know about it as I'd love to have a modern alternative every once in a while.

I personally use the old formula Taylor's Lavender shaving soap (in the wooden bowl, just like Yardley) and it smells fantastic to me. Nothing else like it but it still isn't the same as the Old Yardley. Old Yardley is sort of the same it's fantastic in it's own interpretation of lavender.

Chris, I could be mistaken but I think the OP was referring to the modern bath soaps from Yardley that one can buy at Walgreens or Bed, Bath and Beyond and sometimes even the dollar stores. However, I do agree with you that nothing really smells like vintage Yardley

I totally concur with Chris. I have used at least a dozen lavender scented creams and soaps and none have a scent like the old Yardley soap. However,to me,the most genuine scent and by far,the best lavender cream,is Castle Forbes lavender. Truly wonderful.

Yes, I was refering to the bath modern soaps. I've never tried the vintage Yardley's shaving soap. It might be exactly what I'm craving, who kows. I tried the Herbs of Bulgaria again, and enjoyed it even more the second time around. Is HoB typical of lavenders?
