A high end and scrubby brush?

IMightBeWrong

Loves a smelly brush
I've been using a Vulfix 1000A for a while and I like the scrubbiness of it, but I like the idea of something a little nicer. Maybe a Silvertip - It sounds fancy after all! But does anybody make a Silvertip or other "higher grade" badger brush that still has some decent scrubbiness to it? Looking for recommendations.

Also, price isn't a huge issue, but I don't want to go TOO wild.

My Simpsons Chubby 1 Super has just the right amount of scrubbyness combined with face loving softness!

If that makes sense! Haha

One of my all time favorites is the Semogue Owners Club in super badger. It is soft yet has enough backbone for soaps and just the right about to expholeate nicely. It also has a very nice handle if you have big hanbds. For the price it simply can't be beat! It is very similar to and on par with my chubby 1.

Regards
Dave

Rooney Finest hair has that great scrubby-yet-high-end feel, but unfortunately Rooney stopped making them some time ago.

Second to that I think that two-band D01 Shavemacs with a custom short loft have a great mix of scrubby and soft.

Is this the two band brush with wooden handle on italianbarber's site? It's a different type of badger hair. I love Semogue brushes but only have boars. I may need to get one..

Dont look no further then a Kent H8. A super soft pure badger but with a tonne of scrubby.

* Shavemac D-01 2-band will be possibly the scrubbiest knot you get dependent on the loft that you set it at.
* WSP Stubby 2-band Superfine knots are great for the price.
* M&F 2-bands are fantastic and probably the best knots you will find with amazing scrub dependent on the loft you set the knot.
Good luck.

D01 2-band is the scrubbiest of over 10 brushes that I've owned. Mine has just a little bit of scritch; lots of scrub. That's when making cirucular motion on my face. Side to side it's very soft.

My first brush was a Vulfix 2006, which is very similar to the one you have. Frankly, I wouldn't jump right to a Chubby or a Shavemac 2 band. The Chubbys and 2 band Shavemac's are the epitome of backbone and would be very, very far from the brush that you have. I'd go in the middle for now and see if you like that first, with either a Savile Row 3824, a Thater 4125/1 two band or a Shavemac D01 3 band.

Semogue SOC 2 band is a safe bet !
Simpson CH1 or 2 in best.
Shavemac D01 (3 band).
M&F blonde badger
Rooney stubby 2XL
TGN finest
Thaeter 2 band

... there is a long journey ahead of you :w00t:

If you insist on buying a high end (expensive) brush, then I'd recommend a Simpson Chubby 2 or Chubby 3 in 2-band or Manchurian. On the other hand, you can get an excellent custom-made TGN 2-band from Rudy Vey for less than half the price of the Simpsons.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the Shavemac D01 knot is mighty fine.

This is the one I have
http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Sem...adger-Shaving-Brush-Cherry-Handle_p_1514.html

seems to be different than the one you mention. The one I found on italianBarbers site seems to be a "finest" where the WCS one is considered a "super"

I already ordered the one off Italian Barber, I hope it compares to yours. I just got my SOC boar delivered and really like it. This badger one looks different. Hairs are really dark. Hmmm

So as a clarification, between the Shavemac 2 and 3 band what would the difference be? The 3 band is a bit softer with less backbone?
