What's new

A giveaway for interested collectors.

Hi guys,

As we know, sometimes the items we want rarely surface, or simply too expensive. As some of you know, I recently dove into this culture with my first razor, a Star Safety Seven-Day Set, complete in box and packaging box. The only thing missing were those tissue paper instructions, detailed with great lithography and information. As I'm a sucker for antique design, I just had to have a sheet. After asking and scouring the web, I couldn't find them, so I've recreated them from detailed photos I was fortunate enough to get.

The original instructions were printed on 11"x11" tissue paper. I've substituted for 8.5"x11" fine laser paper. I left out the lithographs, because they would have taken too long to recreate by hand, but I did choose 99% similar typefaces from the era, and set the type precisely as it is on the original, with a couple of exceptions: rearrangement of secondary information below shave instructions, and the "POSITIVELY READ THIS"! was redesigned for the new dimensions.

The "KEEP RAZOR WRAPPED IN THIS PAPER" was hand drawn by me, and is an exact likeness of the original, complete with round corners from the old type blocks. All the copy is original, and informative, to boot!

All aging and distressing was done by hand through a three stage process. I would love to print these on period paper, though it's nearly impossible. I will choose the lightest laser paper I can from a paper store in NY, and fine-sand the back to further lighten it.

Now, for the fun stuff:
I'll print and distress a limited run for the first 10 guys interested. Just pay postage. It's a time-consuming process to put into mass-production.

Simply reply here with "I'll take one", and also follow-up with your impression once you've received it.

Thanks for the looking!

John

That's cool and very nice of you to offer this to others.

It's the little bits of paper and such that get thrown out in the first few seconds when things get opened.

This card used to come with Simpsons brushes when Simpsons brushes came in pretty white hinged boxes with red edges

It's the bits of paper that I cherish the most. The cardboard shippers, instructions - even vintage ads (although I would never pay for one of those)

Nice of you!
