My family was able to visit my parents this past weekend for a pre-Christmas dinner and just a nice visit. My brother was already there, and we had a great time. Saturday evening, we exchanged gifts. Our mother gave my brother and I each the AOS Starter Kit. You know, the one with the little baby badger brush? I was lucky enough to find my brother's birth razor and gave that to him. A 1969 Super-Adjustable. He's been wet shaving for several months now. I told him about the adjustment he can make on the Gillette. I warned him that the "9" setting is very aggressive (too much for me). He really loved the razor. I also gave him some Silver Blues and Polsilver blades.
The next morning, he comes up after his shower, and the right side of his face looks like he shaved it with a dull steak knife. I asked him what happened. He told me that I was right, "9" is far too aggressive for him also. He said that he tried "1" first, but he said it felt like he was 'plowing snow'. So, instead of moving it up a few settings, he cranks it up all the way to "9".
All day long, every time I looked at him, I chuckled. The right side of his face was torn up, but the left was a perfect, BBS shave. I suggested that he might want to listen to his younger brother from time to time....
