What's new

A brownie pif

My apologies gents! A couple of days ago I posted a brown leaf pif that broke a rule that I forgot about. For the good of B&B the post was removed and a extremely gentlemanly explanation was sent to me.
I really like the excersise that wold have declared the winner. So I am going to give it another go (making sure I follow the rules this time of course).
The rules......
You must be an active brown leafer

Share who and why is a admired B&Ber to you.

I will give it about a week and then select a winner. I will also post (after I select the winner) who and why as well.

The prize an empty tin of Cornell & Diehl Billy bud. The product went into my grab bag mix. The tin will have a shaving related surprise inside.

If you had posted on the illegal version please repost as I think we could get some real interesting stories here!

Best regards to all!

Im not in on the shave filled tin, But I would like to play along anyway

Put up my lil buddy Boro, He shocked me last year when he came out of no where into me PM box informing me that he saw it was my birthday and while out and about in town he saw something he thought I may like and sent me a little bday gift. It wasnt huge or nothing, what was huge was the meaning behind it, He was out and away from B&B in the real world and still not only thought about me, but did something nice. Ive seen a few ques that have led me to believe im not the only one, and he has surprised me a few times since

Hes helpful, informative, is always looking to grow and one heck of a true Gentleman, this forum is lucky to have such great members and Boro (Boris) is certainly one of those who make this a great community

Thanks Boris !

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Of all of my fellow B&Bers, Jim is the one I most admire. It doesn't matter which part if B&B you wander into, he is there providing knowledge and advice. He has impeccable tastes in his products. And most importantly, he is the living definition of a gentlemen.

Totally botched my stewardly duties on your
first thread, my bad! Nice work on coming up with an alternative!

We are all learning everyday brother! What ever keeps this great site running smoothly is OK with me! A little gear change never hurt anyone!!

Great PIF! I'm not active in The Brown Leaf and not in the PIF but in the short time I've been here I could write several thousand words about all the great people I've met on this forum. I haven't had a single interaction that hasn't been polite, informative and enjoyable. Velocityboy, rickboone1, plpenn, catherix, badrunner13, Turtle, Syngent, Wingnut and dozens more I've neglected to list have been helpful, supportive and patient with posts and questions from an interested and occasionally confused newbie.
Good luck with the PIF!

I've met a lot if great guys here, and the best among them is Obiwan and shaverjoe. Both have been really good to me, especially Joe (who also lives across town from me). Joe has honed for me several times, every time I did something clumsy to mess up the edge with no complaints from him at all. He's actually done FAR more than that, not only for me, but for my family as well, but don't wanna divulge that part publicly.

There is also one other person who did a lot to get me set up with shaving, but that person doesn't want public recognition either, but you know who you are!

Hey Y'all happy monday.
BTW it's OS monday ya I'm sporting it. But thats not why I'm here. Recently I have taken up the brown leaf and what an experiance it has been. The one person that has stood out to me and has really made me appreciate this community. Has always had a ready answer and an ecouragement, ready to reach out and personify the very meaning of the word Brotherhood. never leavign a post un attended even in his short period of time with the leaf. His name is John, AKA Michiganlover. I just want to say thanks to all you brothers out there. I enjoy this site and spirt it has thanks.

I'd have to say that syngent really stands out to me as a great example anyone and everyone could follow here. Generous, witty, informative and supportive, as well as a great gent. So I guess hey, count me in the PIF. :)

I suppose I'm more of a lurker than a regular poster. I read pretty much everything, but generally I've only replied in things like COTD or POTD and I only have 2-3 pipes/cigars month. As such, I don't really have much personal interaction with folks in the BL.

Even so, I've rather enjoyed following the posts of several members: Michiganlover's updates on his pipe adventures are always informative and share a very similar perspective to my own [as I've just started dabbling in pipes myself]. the_edski and oc_in_fw have a wonderful banter that I always get a great laugh out of in following their antics across the BL. Blade Boy's PAD and excellent pictures he shares of his lovely acquisitions have fueled many of my own PAD desires, although I've maintained the control to keep my PAD at bay for now. Similarly, Boro62's 2fer Tuesday posts make me want to go raid my B&M's humidor every week to try and keep up. All of these folks are also GREAT at reviewing things they enjoy and help to pass along the info about the "good stuff" they've sampled to all of us here at the BL. I can't pick just one because I don't have much of a personal rapport with anyone, but I can say this place is a wealth of excellent information that is shared by polite, eloquent, fantastic gentlemen. I can't imagine a better resource for a new pipe/cigar smoker than these gents and I only hope I'll be able to contribute more as time goes on and my knowledge grows.

Aww you noticed :blushing:

Great post, we have so many great members in this section. I'm so proud to be the steward here!

i have no one really in mind , but i have been a casual smoker for years, not heavy by any means , i have a decent collection of pipes and if the weather is crisp and relaxing maybe early in the morn, or on the fantail of a ship (years ago) i will hit a good bowl, no hot days

Hmm B&Bers that I admire... Well that is a good list of fellows. Lets just go in a list in no real order, first Boris for not only co-founding the idea for a book subforum, more book threads are popping up here and there, he also was kind enough to send me some amazing stuff in the mail, which I still need to bomb him back for. Syngent for helping me indulge in my FPAD and Calligraphy, which I have friends asking for help with Wedding Invitations and another friend asking for help with his next tattoo! Blade Boy for always showing off amazing pipes and being a wealth of information both on this forum and another. Ed for being super supportive of the BL on the whole and being willing to admit mistakes when made. Rob (Liberty_2112) not only for sending me a pipe rack but for just being an awesome guy. Brian for sending me two Acid cigars when I was just wondering what they were like (super tasty by the way, would be better if they were about half the diameter). Argonaut is always good to have around for a witty response and healthy dose of knowledge. There are a few more fellows but I don't want the post to be too long.
