I saw this Gillette Cavalier set poorly listed on ebay and put a $300 snipe and forgot about it. I bet the seller was amazed at the selling price.

I am surprised that it did not bust a grand in the condition it is in. All parts are there including the outer box and all are in good shape. I still like the older President better.

i set my snipe for 700 but i knew it wasnt going to be enough. wishful thinking
eBay is very soft at the moment. If this was for sale in the summer it would have gone over a $1000. Shipper too? $900 not to shabby.

No way. That was way too much money. I barely paid over $200 for mine, and that's only because Mark jacked the price on me.
Kidding aside, I was still rather surprised at that price. I certainly would not have paid that much for it even with the carton, but I do seem to be in the minority here. I can almost guarantee that it will look way nicer in person than it does in those photos, and there surely aren't that many of them out there, relatively speaking, but I just don't see prices like that as being very sustainable longer term. Maybe I'm wrong...
To each his own, just can't wrap my head around doing something like that myself.
Given the utter completeness of that set, I think it went way cheap. The market for the Cavalier doesn't seem to be defined yet.

I Personally Think New President is a Better Match Than the old type deluxe or Even the Original Cavalier Razor which looks alot like an old Aristocrat More than a Cavalier Razor itself. as the Cavalier Razor has not Art Deco on the handle only the Diamond patter of the Old aristocrat Style.

Get out of here with this stuff! They both look great! I'm lucky I've pieced mine together for a little over $100. I would have gone close to the sale price and sold mine just to recoup some cost but didn't thank goodness.

Nice set! Alot of money to put on a razor though
I actually don't think either is aesthetically ideal. The NP is a bit too busy and the cavalier is a real mish mash of styles. They should have matched the knob to the cap on the cavalier and maybe did a simple pin striping pattern made of those three line stripes in the middle of the cap.

Wow seriously? Under $100.00 now that is something to Envy. I paid a little under 200 or under $200.00 for the Cavalier Set without the razor, and for the Old Type Deluxe Razor alone it was a little over $300.00, Now the NewPresident was a Gift for my Bday from a Friend who got it at a Garage sale for$25.00 or so if I remember correctly. Now the that New President was a steal for sure and Free for me.

You're always going to get barely outbid if you're the second-highest bidder at the end; the winning bid will only be one bidding increment over your maximum bid.
For example, your maximum bid is $100.00. Someone puts in a snipe at the last seconds for $200.00. You don't see their maximum bid; you only see that they won with a bid of $102.50.
