The second number is the size of the knots.

Just be VERY careful. Once you learn what the numbers mean it doesn't take long until you have to buy one! (1/1 for me!).

Is this where the more knowledge I have, the more temptation is tugging at me?

Unfortunately... YES!

I have a 1/1, which I like a lot. BUT I am thinking a 3/1 or 3/2 might be a nice compliment to that brush.

The smaller sizes are preferred for soaps and/or face lathering, so a lot of it depends what you want to use one for.

I highly suggest buying your first one from Vintage Blades, since they are awesome at service. If youre unlucky enough to have an issue, they are 100% hassle free in dealing with a replacement brush. Keep in mind that promblems with these brushes aren't common at all - you just tend to hear from the 1 guy that had problems as opposed to the 50 that are silently enjoying a perfect brush.

No, actually this is the part where others try to justify their own self-indulgence by projecting it on to other people.

Nobody in prison is actually guilty and none of us have any control over our own spending habits.:tongue_sm

Fortunately, the style 2 only comes in size 1, so you only need 7 brushes for the full set - at least in one grade of bristle. Rooney also offers 4 or 5 bristle grades as in: 3/1 finest or 2/1 super, etc.

There's a relief! I can keep a few fingers and toes after giving an arm and a leg :tongue_sm

It might be nice to have one Rooney. But I don't see you going all out considering you have those nice ever-readys you are about to put knots in. Maybe you need a 1/1 in super for comparison, for science!

It was more of a curiosity question, so as to understand the conversation. But, no, not in the market at all. Matter of fact, I've got three knots on their way to me right now. I figured that if I don't screw things up too royally bad, I'll have some brushes just as good, if not better than 90% of whats out there

And with my huge paws, I'll need a large, please.

Also be aware that a "medium" in one line might not have the have same knot size in another lines "medium". You are headed down a bad road there son!:001_rolle

Take Care,
Richard
