2 great firsts-Israeli Blades and WCS

Last week I ordered a few packs of blades from West Coast Shaving. I've only been at this for a few months, so I'd only tried Derbys and Feathers so far. Since I was about to run out of Feathers and didn't feel like Derbys suit me well enough to be my go-to, I decided to try Astra SP, Shark SC, Israeli Red Personnas, and Crystal IPs.

I placed the order with West Coast Shaving because of their excellent shipping prices and all the recommendations they get here. Fantastic experience--my order arrived only 2 business days after it was placed! Just wanted to express my gratitude for such good prices and such good service.

Then the real fun began--I tried the Israeli Reds (or wherever they're from) that I'd read so much about here. I was shocked at how sharp they were compared to the Derbys, but every bit as smooth, if not smoother. Much smoother than the Feathers. They cut right through on the first pass, and by the third I couldn't tell there was a blade in my razor. The blade started to feel dull by day 3 of use, but at such a low price, I could handle changing blades more often (Derbys usually last me 4-5 days, and Feathers can go 7 or 8 for me).

Today I tried the Crystal and it does indeed feel similar. On my beard, maybe not quite as sharp as the Israeli Red, but sharp enough and just as smooth on my face. The difference seems minimal for me.

I can now see why newbies are urged to try a sample pack when they start shaving. Can't wait to try the Astra and Shark!

I'm loving the Reds with my SS lately. So much so that I haven't used my DE89 in a few weeks. They didn't impress me too much in the DE89 but I was still pretty new when I tried that setup. I've have to revisit that combo soon.

I bought 100 of them from WCS 2 weeks ago. They had just come back in stock and didn't last long, so if you want some you had better jump on them when they come back in.

The Super+ Platinum blades (a.k.a. Israel Personna) are the standard I measure all other blades against. They are not the best but are a good, all around blade in terms of smoothness, longevity and sharpness.

The Personna Reds were my favorite blade - until I tried the Personna Medical Preparation blade. However, they are still excellent and a great value. Smooth and sharp.
