1st post! recommend me a blade and refill for wet shaving?

Hello all here at badger and blade! Ive been a reader of this website for a good 8 months now, and absolutely LOVE IT! I have learned how to properly shave and prepaire and almsot everything inbetween here:)
well..the best razors i ever used, was in my teens, a shick slim twin(non disposable) and a gillette sensor. I liked the shick alot more, never gave ne knicks or cuts ever. Sensor is so smooth.
I had a gillette adjustable saftey razor, which i lost, you turn the handle with numbers on it. Lost it. My father used to love shaving with the old silver saftey razors, and shaving soap, growing up in the 60's. SO! reading here, ide like to experince the art and pleasure of this kinda razor!
I see alot lilke the gillette super speeds. I see thiers Merkurs as well. Thier are model numbers, different shavers, years ect, some are nickel, others aluminum. i have sensitive skin.
SO! can any pros here recoomend me a name/model that gives really close shaves with minimum knicks? so far i see the super speeds seem to be hands down champions, but can only find them on ebay.

The overall consensus seems to be that for beginners, the Gillette Tech is king. It's absolutely the easiest to shave with out of the DE razors I've personally used.

I've become more of a Single Edge razor kind of guy. The GEM 1912's are my particular favorite that I've used. I consistently get great shaves with minimal cuts--and I'm fairly new to wetshaving myself (3 months).

I see thanks: ) I kinda had my heart and eyes set on a gillette SS though. IM gunna check ebay and see if i can find Tech king. OR..is thier a website that sells them new?

I mean, is thier a differnece, between nickel and aluminum? year and model numbers? like is a 1947 SS better than a 1957 or 67 model? i found a few into the 70's.

I think most say the 40's superspeeds are the best. I was a DE newbie about a month ago and got a 60's superspeed and a lord tech(which they say is close to a gillette tech) razor I like the lord better for now. The SS takes too many passes compared to the tech although it's hard to cut yourself with this thing unless your not paying attention. I'd say get a gillette tech and a sampler pack of blades.

Maybe you should spend some time checking out the reviews and the wiki pages.

there are basically 2 ways to go, either you get a new razor or a vintage gillette. here are some suggestions either way.

NEW RAZORS:
edwin jagger DE89 (my current favorite)
merkur HD or 1905

VINTAGE RAZORS:
gillette tech (fantastic starting place, esp. the fat handled tech)
gillette superspeed (a classic)
1950's aristocrat (great grip. absolutely lovely. great razor)

+1 - except I think it's 1904, not 1905.

I am doing DE shaving for 3 months now.. I could recommend you the following:

Razor: Muhle R89 (or Edwin Jagger D89) they have the same head. Both have beautiful chrome finish.

Blades: A Sample Pack!

I first bought a HD and it is good. But I would have prefered a Muhle R89 back then. I bougth one now, and it is superb. Shaves smother than the HD. It's my favourite!
