1964 Super Speed, 1940 BE Tech Restoration

So I picked up this Super Speed off eBay for a decent price, if not the best, since there weren't any on the BST at the time. I thought it looked OK in the pictures, but when I got it, it was a little scummy, and definitely not shiny like metal plate should be. So I decided to spend a few hours on it and restore it's original glory a bit.

I got the Tech for a steal, since it was obvious it was in bad shape from the pictures. I've been restoring random stuff for quite a few years now, including car parts, furniture, and now I'm adding a couple razors to the list.

I'm removing the gold plate on the tech to reveal the nickel underneath. So far it looks pretty nice, but I'm working on the knurling later this week, and I'll post up some pictures ;)

But the SS restores really nicely after a few hours of polishing, cleaning, and lubrication. It functions perfectly, which I'm really happy with the results:

Very nice. I bought a superspeed just like this today. Going to use it tomorrow.

Oops, now that I look not just like that. I think mine is earlier it has lines going both directions on the tightening knob and it has the higher more sharply angled head.

Made me chuckle to myself.....I LOVE seeing how those razors clean up.

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing.

Post #10 = that's UN believable! Looks so mint now. I can't believe the Gillette etch didn't get removed.
Amazing work.
