1956 Gillette Tech Travel Razor

so i picked up this gillette tech travel razor on the bay...

i'm blown away at the tiny size. it feels like a toy!

from what i understand, it's identical to the full size gillette tech, just with a smaller handle. i'll try it out and let you know how it works out.

Gillette Tech travel razor/Frankenrazor

January 10, I picked up, what appears to be new, Gillette Travel razor for the great price of .25 cents at a small thrift store. They acted like it was some sort of joke razor, for a kid to play with. I did not say anything other, then "It looks sort of cute". They smiled when I bought it. Took it home, took off the .25 sticker and washed the razor. The handle is kind of short, but I wanted to see if it shaved as proficiently as my regular ball end Tech. I pulled the handle off of my grandfathers Gillette New, put it on the Travel head and shaved with it this morning. I put a new Personna blade in it and got a great shave with it. I used some Saint Charles Shave, "Savory Rose" shave cream and an Omega 31064 brush. Three passes and one weeper, that stopped when I applied a stypic pencil. A pretty close shave for a inexpensive razor.

I'd love one of these but I'd never take one away on hols with me in case I lost it. My travel razor is a Gillette blue II.

What a coincidence - I just sold one of those on the bay!

I originally purchased it to use the head with another handle, but I did try it once or twice using the short handle.

It took some getting used to, but it was surprisingly easy to use - very maneuverable!
