1915 Bulldog

Found a nos Bulldog (?) in the drawer, decided to give it a try. With a Treet HiTech Durasharp and Irisch Moos had a really great shave. As if there was no blade in. The angle was a bit different from what I am used to, but with oc's it is always easy to find the right angle. Looking forward to the next shave with this one :thumbup1:

The Old Type Bulldog has become one of my favorite razors. The weight distribution seems perfect. i only need two passes. It gives me a smooth, close shave every time.

I like the bulldog as well. It took me awhile to adjust to the heft, after a spell with old type single rings, and I got bit a couple times, but then I got the hang of it. Great shaves. Love that handle.

Did not know this dog could bite: shaves as easy and as safe as my Feather ASR... But it does cut the whiskers :thumbup1: BTW the head fits on the Feather handle. Still think the ASR should have been an oc...

Wil, the Bulldog handle is not meant to be separated from the blade guard. Where does yours come apart?

Oops, then mine is not a bulldog  I took for that as it has a thick handle, but it is a 3 piece razor. I am sure it is a 1915, as I checked the number on the head. Perhaps the handle is not original. So, it is a 102?

One of my favorite razors - Len, that's a really nice example.

Thanks, Jon. This particular razor is nearly perfect. It is the nickel plated model. It's beautiful. This one is in my collection. The one I shave with is silver plated.

Have been searching a bit, but can not find the one I have: it has a brass color head, and metal color thick handle. The only one that looks like it is the Milady, but that one has another handle, also brass color.

Can you post a photo? The 102 would identify the cap but not the model which is identified by the handle style. In any case it is the Old Type which regardless of the handle will give you a great shave.

The head is an Old Type but I think the handle is not from a Gillette razor, at least not a US model. I'm not that familiar with the European models. It most likely is a replacement for the original handle which was probably cracked. But as a shaver it looks great.

Had some doubts about the handle, as it was not the ball end but thick I guessed the bulldog. Should have know better than to guess. But is this a Milady head then? There is only the Gillette logo on the base plate and on the other side the serial number.

It could have come from a Milady. The year is right. Or even a ball end pocket razor. There is no way to tell for sure. Both handles would fit.
