19 razors - ID help please

so i got the 19 lot of safety razors from the bay today. all in all a pretty good haul and everything is in pretty good shape. there are 6 that i have had problems identifying. also, how do i get the blade out of the injector? i cannot seem to get it out. #3 particularly intrigues me. please help!

#'s 2, 3 and 5 look like "Frankenrazors" - meaning that they were assembled by non-professionals using spare parts.

know how to get the blade out? interested in buying it?

To remove the blade, you need another blade. When one is inserted, there is a key in the blade carrier that loosens the head assembly, ejects the previous blade, and inserts a new one; all in one motion.

Additionally, you do not yet meet the requirements to sell items on B&B. Stick around for another few weeks and you may buy sell and trade freely. :wink2:

I believe number 4 has been called a "Shave King", but I believe it had other names, or was produced by different manufacturers. I have two, same patent numbers on them, but designed slightly different. One of them just says 'Self Lubricating' on it and is a little narrower. The other is identical to yours.

edit: yep. Shave King, also called "Grand Self-Lubricating Razor" . Found a thread about it here. http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?p=297480 One guy has two diff. versions there also, which look identical to my two.

Was this the razor that "self lubricated" in the sense that water would remain in the grooves on the cap, then transfer to your face during the shave?

Too bad it is missing a tooth!! Any chance it is still shaveable??

do the handles on 2,3, and 5 look like Gillettes to you? the one on #3 looks like a 'NEW' handle, even has the crack at the base! is the other two a fat tech handle or a goodwill handle??

The handle on #5 is a common bar handle found on Techs and News. #3 handle is a Ball End found on Gillette Old types and News. #2 may be a thin handle from a New. These are fairly rare.

I think the handle from no. 2 (slim NEW bar handle, fairly rare) or 5 (regular NEW bar handle, fairly common) goes with the head on number 3 (open-comb NEW). The head on No. 2 is a chrome Gillette Tech; I don’t see a handle that goes with it. Number 6 is a cheapo mass produced no-name DE, you often see them in unbranded white boxes on E-Bay. I’m guessing they were some sort of military model. I don’t know where the head on 5 came from; it looks like the mouth of a carnivorous dinosaur.

I believe the head on #2 is a Star DE, notice the little tab that goes off to the side. That, and the fact that it has studs at all.

#5 looks a lot like something called a Leresche, apparently. At least that's what the seller is calling it.

great! i guess i could always sell off the Thin Handle seperately, i paired it with the new head from #3.

I put the thin handle (#2) on the head from #3. too bad the head has a lot of brass showing, apparently from someone taking some wire brush or something to it

i have no use for the handle, so i suppose i will throw it on BST for someone that has a use for it:biggrin1:
