What's new

1000th Post PIF

In honor of my pending 1000th post, I am carrying on the honored tradition of offering a PIF. I have learned so much over the last 14 months and have found some great friendships! If you know me at all, then you know that I am crazy about my soaps. I love the great lather that can be obtained with the right brush for the job, the proper technique, and dialing in the all important water/product ratio!

I can hear you all saying "Shut up already and show us the goods!" Well, I don't have goods. I have GREATS!

First and foremost is a brand spanking new puck of da FAT! It would be out of character for me to NOT offer it.

Secondly is approximately 125 grams of Klar Kabinett. This stuff is truly amazing.

Third, two samples of Stirling Soaps. Rod makes an incredible soap. These two are Anise and Bacon (yeah, you read that right, but go ahead and read it again). I am not a big Anise fan and since I am a recently converted vegan, if I were to shave with the bacon I might be tempted to lick my brush or eat the soap.

Lastly, is an assortment of blades. 15 Sharks, 5 GSB's, and 5 7 O'clock Blacks (there were 7 but I used two of them, not the blades for my face type: fat and pudgy).

Now to the hard part. Participation. EDIT = This PIF is now open to all B&B Members.

To be eligible, you can't have tried either the Mitchell's Wool Fat nor the Klar Kabinett. You must be fairly new to wet shaving. Tell me that you are in and post a picture of your favorite brush. Along with the picture, you must identify it and state WHY it is your favorite.

That is it! This PIF will run until the 7PM Eastern on the 26th of October. Now the rest is up to you.

Damn, I'm a log winded so and so.

Oh! I will be picking the winner with Random.org. Only one entry per person. Thanks!

Also not in, but a very nice PIF. I'm embarrassed to not have offered a general PIF yet (though I have PIFed many products to members here). My first general PIF will be for 2,500 or 3,000 posts and will NOT be CONUS.

Not in, but great PIF, Riff Raff. My next PIF will be OUTUS, as well. Nice acronym, did you create it? :thumbup1:

Actually no, Pierce. It is a military term. It is just short for Out of the United States. Sometimes the cleverest of things are the simple ones!

I was the recipient of a blade PIF from The Dean.

I'm in, if you consider 7 months wetshaving to still be fairly new. I haven't tried either of those soaps and they are both high on my wish list. Here's my favorite brush, my Omega 11575 boar, sitting in a bowl of my favorite soap, C&E Nomad. It's the only brush I own. I like it and see no reason to buy another, except to buy a synthetic for my travel kit.

Thank you for the opportunity, Bill.

I'm in, and my favorite brush so far is the whipped dog I have in the bottom left pic. I really like it, bc it is kind to my face. It's a lather hog though, and sometimes it's tough to get enough product. Have a semogue 830 on order though. I'm still fairly new, only been at it for a few months, and have tried neither soaps.

The Simpson Chubby 3 in Super Badger is hypothetically my favorite brush and the one I would own if money is no object. I would love to have this brush because it is full and would hold a ton of water. Also, I've heard really good things about Simpson brushes.

I just own a whipped dog Silvertip, so that's currently my favorite of the brushes I own. I have never tried klar Kabinett or Fat, so I'm in!

I'm In! I've never tried either of those soaps and they get so much attention on the forum, I'm very interested in trying them.

This is my favorite brush. It is my favorite because I won it with the votes from the fine gents on B&B during a picture contest several months ago (an because it also features the colors of my beloved Giants)

I'm in, thanks for the great PIF. I haven't had the pleasure of using either da Fat or Klar Kabinett yet. My favorite brush so far is an Ever-Ready 200 that I restored with a 24mm finest knot from Virginia Sheng. It is very dense and has incredibly soft tips but still has enough backbone to handle any soap. It is great for face lathering and works fine for bowl lathering as well. It is my favorite because I took something that looked like this.

and turned it into this wonderful brush

Already said I would use my US address for another thread's PIF. Woulnd't seem fair to use it here too.

Thanks anyway for an awesome PIF! MWF is one of those soaps that I really want to try and I'm sure you're going to make someone really happy.

I would like to be in on this PIF. This is my favorite brush. It's an Omega 20102 blonde boar hair brush. It's my favorite brush because it's my only brush. Truthfully I'm completely happy with this brush. I might change my mind once I have enough experience to know the difference. Eventually I want to try a badger brush, but that can wait. I have not tried any of the soaps (or products) listed above. I just got started in this hobby. It hasn't been quite two weeks for me. I have not tried, or even heard of, Kabinett before reading this thread. I have heard about Mitchell's Wool Fat though.
I think this is a great tradition and a generous act. Someone is going to be a very happy recipient. In other forums for my other hobbies I have not seen the generosity and community atmosphere that I see her on B&B. I came in here as a newbie that thought he knew what he was doing. So far everyone has kindly pointed me in the right direction. I just wanted to express my thanks. Hope this last statement doesn't hijack the thread.
Pete

Can't figure out how to post a picture from my phone, and don't have a computer at the moment. But I'm a newbie, and my fav and only brush is my purple B&B boar brush. I'm in!
