The initial blast of scent is very green, sort of like cut grass or crushed leaves. This fades quickly to a very light grass and wood scent which is gone within a couple hours. The cooling is probably from evaporating alcohol, of which there is a lot in this. It does tone and tighten the skin well, I would imagine there's some witch hazel or some alum of some sort mixed in. Quality product, I just wish the scent would last me through the work day.
