I used a Personna blade for the first time in ages and it was ok if a bit prickly feeling. Not my favourite blade by a long way but I got on with it better than in the past. I also used the Rex for the first time in weeks as it has been knocked from the top spot by the Blackbird.
They're both beautifully made but I find the Blackbird smoother, more efficient and it just "communicates" better in both feel and sound during the shave.

• In general a close shave, but I missed one spot. I did get my usual trouble spots very well
• One small nick and one small cut. Both disappeared with my rinses
• I had some unusual irritation. I think I have sunburn and windburn from the last several days. This soap is usually pretty protective

Dickinson's Witch Hazel Astringent contains alcohol. If you have cuts, nicks or just skive too deeply and cause irritation, you will feel it.

I didn't know there was a spiked version. Looking at the product images on Amazon, there's no mention of alcohol on the front label or in the description. Thanks for the warning.

I really like the look of that brush.

I love the shape of it. I picked it up in the BST about 2 months ago. I don't think it will ever get soft like my other badgers, or even my boars. But that's okay!! I do enjoy the scritch when I use it. If it was my only brush, I'd probably not like it quite as much, but it's always a nice change.

Being that you are stationed somewhere in Europe (I assume, from your posts and interacting with a french officer), is the OS there the the old formula scent in milk glass, or the new scent in plastic?

In terms of beauty, quality and efficiency Edwin Jagger razors are second to none. The 3ONE6 in particular when loaded with a sharp blade is a samurai sword.
