If you have to ask why it's because you didn't go to the link. American craftsmanship at its absolute finest.

Yes I agree if cost is no object. But why so expensive? The Pennsylvania Tourbillon is $95,000. I have also included a Chinese made Tourbillon for $600.

I have recently discovered Chinese made movements and I am loving them for their quality at such a low cost.

The Stuhrling watch uses a Hangzhou (PTS) 3310 mechanism which is assembled by hand. To answer the OP, I guess I would pick the Stuhrling because it is obtainable. The RGM I have to love from afar but I can actually own the Hangzhou in my hot little hands. The RGM is reserved for the top 1/2 percent of income earners. I know the OP said cost is no object, but there is something beautiful about a bargain. Haha.

I have simple tastes. My Grail is an Omega Speedmaster Pro. I like everything associated with the Apollo program. It was our country at its zenith

It changes, but right now it is an Omega Speedmaster "Dark side of the moon". I saw one in a shop at the casino the other week, and have been lusting after it ever since.

I'm with you Owen. I had one in the 70's. The band pin snapped and it dropped into the Susquehanna Never to be seen again. $250 in 1973, around $5000-8000 today. In the $2000-4000 used. Way out of my range today.

The house is paid off next year, so that is when I will start saving. My $112k loan costs $177 over 15 years, as opposed to over 300k had I done a 30. I think I earned it

I guess I missed the point? I thought the OP wanted to know our all-time #1 pick with money not a factor in the decision. Maybe I read the post wrong. If we are talking about favorite obtainable watches then I pick my Seiko Black Monster. If I read the OP correctly I stick with my original answer. With unlimited funds the Ferrari beats the Yugo every time.

A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Chrono in white gold, probably ain't happening :001_rolle And ask me again next month and might be something different. But this watch is just incredible. Around €40k I believe.

Even with unlimited funds I wouldn't spend the money. There is something ugly about a watch that only the wealthiest of people can afford. The craftsmanship of the RGM is flawless, impressive and to the highest standard. But does it really take two man-years (average US watchmaker salary $49,729) to build and assemble each of these RGM stainless steel (precious metals are available at a higher quote price) watches. Or can they build one of these things in a few days (or even weeks) and the thing is practically pure profit priced so only a rare few can obtain it? You didn't miss the point and your selection is a fine one. My bad, I just saw all that money flying out the window, hahaha and my practical side would have me pick the Stuhrling.

Sorry OP, I didn't mean to ruin the fun or be a buzz kill. Some watches are a total luxury item and therefore are detached from reality as far as their pricing is concerned. I do prefer a watch that has ultimate workmanship like the RGM or the A. Lange & Sohne over a luxury watch that simply has lots of diamonds attached. Haha.

Nothing fancy, just a Rolex Oyster a Submariner. I also like the Speedmaster Professional and IWC Portuguese Chrono (white dial and blue hands). Luckily there are good low price alternatives to all.
