Three days str8 without damage

It's 4 months since I did myself horrible harm with a str8 for the first time. Finally learning from all my mistakes, adjusted the technique bit by (bloody)bit. I've managed to get shaves without weepers, nicks, or out-right slicing of skin, when I'm not taking my time and paying attention.
If I'm using the TI, I take note of where the sharp-edged tip is, try to avoid doing as much shaving close to the shoulder or tip as possible, thats where I have the most accidents
The neck and below the jaw is always a problem still, I can't shave with the left hand, so have to maneuver my head, extend the blade and try to draw the blade down as smoothly as possible WTG, ATG is still some weeks (months away)
I'll strop the razor if I sense the blade is tugging. Needless to say I will apply lather often.
I don't usually have the opportunity to shower before a shave, I shower in the morning, and time doesn't allow for a SAS, so I'll take extra time with pre-shave, I feel my shave is better with pre-shave oils, I do have more nicks without, and definitely more chance of razor burn, so this works for me.
I figure I have kept $50 in my pocket, starting to get the returns on my purchase of the shaving porn :biggrin1:

I have the same problem when not taking my time. I have to focus on going slow, light pressure and no quick moves while moving the razor for cleaning between strokes. I about took a finger tip off by moving too quickly when cleaning the blade between strokes. I've been at it for about 8 months and still have jaw bone and upper lip problems. About 80% of shaves, no weepers. One big advantage from str8 shaving for me is that for the first time in my life, I'm able to shave every day without irritation. Before with the DE and electrics I could only shave every other day.

Use a sponge to clean your razor! It'll save your fingers from the blade, and save the blade from being knocked against the sink or tap! BTW, good for you on the bloodless shaves, I'm getting better as well! Fun isn't it!?

Starting out was tough for me as well - I just used STR8 on weekends at first, so I would not feel rushed to finish & go to work.

I shower and shave at night. In the morning I don't trust myself with a razor.
