Minor chip on new 4k/8k

Good evening Gents,

Was just wondering, is it normal for a new Norton 4k/8k to have chips around the corners? I guess what I'm really asking is, does it even matter? As in, when you hone, does the blade even make it that far on the hone before you flip it to go the other way?

2 at corners (one on 4k side, the other on the 8k)
2 on sides, these are tiny, but kinda deep :bored:

Moe - I think I take very good care of my stuff but I had a couple chips show up on my Norton as well. I think they are things that just happen. I haven't tried Suzuki's idea of beveling the edges but it does sound like a good idea though...

Great idea,

I did get a flattening stone - although I think I should of opted for a DMC to lap with instead. In any case, thanks for the help fellas.

+1

Always bevel the edges of your stone so the edge won't catch on it.

Gents, please do pardon the greeness of the nature of my questions, but when you say 'bevel' the edges, do you mean go at the edges with the lapping stone at a 45º angle?

thanks again for your patience,

Moe
