Look Ma, No Lathe!

Well this took a lot longer than expected, but I finaly finished my first brush. Bolivian Rosewood handle and a TGN 20mm Silvertip. Still waiting for the epoxy to cure before blooming. This was a real effort without using a lathe, so I doubt I do another anytime soon. Spar varnish was the finish, it turned out OK, but I think Rudy Vey is safe for now. Thanks for looking.

1" belt sander, files, and lots of sandpaper.

Wow. This is an amazing brush! The wood is gorgeous, the lines are bold but smooth, and there's both a strength and a sensuousness about it's subtle curves. I think this is one of the best brush designs I've seen, at least to my sensibilities. The fact that you did this without a lathe just raises the artfulness of it even higher. Very well done, sir!

I love the wood! I also found that a belt sander makes an acceptable substitute for a lathe.
