An Aussie here and I’m not a fan of Aussie Rules or Cricket for that matter, which accounts for the main winter and summer sports here respectively; and about half the printed newspaper space. I wasn’t particularly sporty as a kid - not picked last but definitely in the bottom half. As an adult, now I’ve finally come around to fitness properly, I relate to sport as something I would rather “do”.
I like bike riding (road, not mountain) but I didn’t to stay up and watch the Tour de France. Cadel Evans won the TdF this week which is great for him but I didn’t see it at 3:00am Melbourne time. Similarly, I love swimming and participate in open water swims over summer but again, I’m don’t seek out swim events when they’re telecast.
