A Stirling, HMT, a Slim, GSM, and Pitralon as closer ... what more to ask .... looks quite inviting.

Diesel Fuel for Life Cologne

Nothing like cracking the lid on a new jar of Xpec - using a 1970 NOS badger brush not seen water in . . . 46 years - with sharp 1940-50's German steel . . . then biking along the ocean on a sunny morning . . . (a cafe visit and the nostalgic european lifestyle motif is complete)

Sounds like one fine morning; that razor is a keeper ... and the brush too!

Saturday SOTD ::::: September 3, 2016

Pre-shave Oil: Floïd
Cream: Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes
Brush: Shave Revolution Metalloid HMW badger 24mm
Razor: Rockwell 6s (plate 5)
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (6)
Post Splash: Thayers Lavender Witch Hazel
After Shave: Floïd Blue
Post Shave Balm: Nivea Sensitive

This was a good, comfortable shave. The Rockwell performed as it always does and the Feather was still sharp on its 6th outline. I always enjoy using T&H creams and Floïd Blue is a great end note. But ... there was a but to this shave: the brush. I received the Metalloid from Shave Revolution's closing out sale. It is the second SR brush I own; the first is an Evolution synthetic. Also I have a Wolf Whiskers with an SR Manchurian knot. The brush is quite handsome and soft to the face but it lost at least 20 hairs. I've never had a brush shed more than three at a time. It's a tightly packed knot so it can easily afford to lose some but I'm hoping it not a trend for the brush.

Intriguing looking shave, Matt; how was the soap and aftershave splash?
Sorry. Sometimes, I just like to just throw up a SOTD pic and call it done. At first, I admit, I missed the clay in Stirling's old formula despite its sometimes being finicky. The new formula does perform as well even if it doesn't have that uber creaminess from before. It's still quite slick and dense. Lathering is now a no-brainer. I like their splashes because they're simple and effective. The scent is pretty darn close to Drakkar Noir from the way I remembered it in my youth. The newer Drakkar Noir EdT is still awesome and still touches that memory, but there is something vaguely different from the vintage. Not enough to turn me off from it, however.
