Right now, I shave with a merkur razor, with shark blades, and Col. Konk soap.
I soak the brush in hot water, swirl it on the cake of soap a few times to pick up some soap, and then use a bowl to work up a good lather which I apply to my face.
I've also noticed that it seems to be a lot better for my skin than shaving with a Gillette cartridge razor like I used to do until just after Christmas. My skin on my face actually feels really smooth.
