Strops and Hones are devices used to sharpen and maintain straight razor edges. Strops are usually leather or cloth strips similar to a wide belt (although some are mated to a wooden block, called a paddle strop) and are used prior to and sometimes after each shave. Hones are stones or stone-like blocks used less frequently to help maintain usable razors, or as part of the process to rejuvenate a razor in need of restoration.
