What's new

Your setup and routine

I'm new to DE wet shaving but have a routine that is working well for me:

- fill sink with hot water, submerge bowl and brush. Put a few drops of hot water on top of the soap. Take a shower.
- towel off, dry my face, apply Proraso preshave
- pour water from soap into my warm mug make my lather (followed the excellent tutorial on this site)
- wet my face and neck with the now warm water in the sink for about 10-20 seconds.
- apply lather with my Omega 48 brush, swirling for about a minute, then "paint" ATG
- 1 pass WTG, wet face, lather again, another pass WTG, wet face, lather, final pass XTG.
- check for touch ups. Wet and lather as required.
- drain the sink, rinse my face with cold water and towel dry
- apply Nivea after shave, smile and enjoy the results
- clean up my mess to keep SWMBO happy

Cheers!

I start by soaking my (VDH boar) brush in a VDH apothecary mug. Then I hop in the shower.
After the shower I dump the water from the mug and whip up a lather in the mug with Body Shop Macca Root shave cream. Run warm water over a Edwin Jagger DE89 razor with a Gillette 7 o'clock yellow blade. Lather up my face and shave WTG, lather up again and shave ATG.
Post shave I wipe off the extra cream and use Nivea sensitive ASB.
Clean everything up and I'm done.
