Pretty sure this is a No 77 1948 Tech set.

I picked it up about 2 years ago. I think it was 20 quid.

It has the domed lidded bakelite case and the 2 blade banks, and there were 3 blades. Maybe 2 are used.

I had previously opened one of the blades at random and yep, T1 date code. The set appears almost unused, or maybe the owner didn't like Gillette blues. Mine was a bargain, 5/6.

Thats 5 shillings and sixpence. Just under a $1 in 1948 prices. There were 20 shillings to the £1 pre 1971.

The usual deceptively mild but ultra-efficient FBT shave on a pesky 3 day growth.

3 carefree passes nuked it. Lovely, faultless shave resulting in a SSF result

Always a pleasure.

I've 2 GTs about the same age. Really enjoy shaving with mine. Really nice score you've gotten there. Congrats.

On this Vintage April Micromatic Monday I choose my 80 year old Gem Jr 1912 series. First, I honed the Gem PTFE blade on a 110 year old Stag Sharpener, then stropped it on a 100 year old TwinPlex. After addy my RIGS Shim, I got an excellent shave, barely stirred up yesterday’s cut. A 9.8 on shave 14 for the blade.

These yellow pack Gillette blades are becoming my top choice, certainly work well in every vintage Gillette I’ve tried them in so far.
A super shave this morning.

I shaved a fortune
I managed to find a 1953 Y2 President in absolutely pristine condition.... no replating needed. It's a bit more money than I have saved at the moment but the generous seller agreed to hold it for me until the funds are available. It wasn't listed on his site but he had it squirrelled away and is willing to sell it to me for a bargain price, give its condition....

That should complete my little Vintage razor collection... just sticking my toe in the creek, so to speak.

I'm not sure about this reformulated MWF. :001_unsur
It may turn into a bath soap.
