Yes the pubs were pretty much my favorite places the last time I was in London. Once you've seen the sights once, there's no better place to pass the time over there.

I don't mean to be a rebel, jumping into the conversation late. I think the appropriate term for what fills up a pint is a waitress.
I tend to get a real good look while being discreet.
Be careful! In London, the waitresses are a little more regal in their demeanor!

Yes if she glares at you when she brings you your pint, maybe you weren't as discreet as you thought.
You'll get more stares if you order a lager rather than an ale.
