FFFMM (Fixed Four For March Madness) 2024 Edition
SV Saturday
Semogue Saturdays
Hello friends
Hot day and stuffy night. At these moments, my Brazilian friends and I would like to move to the North Pole. This seventh shave of FFFMM 2024 was pleasant and very efficient with my 3-day beard:
Greencult 2.0 plate II
Gillette Silver Blue (7)
SV Manna di Sicilia
Semogue SOC Mistura
To alleviate the inclement weather, I finished with the wonderful Skin Bracer, one of my favorite AS.
Accompanying me, a desert island album, Art Tatum and Ben Webster.

Razor: Muhle R41 Blade: Personna 74(52) Brush: Yaqi Purple Mink Soap: SV Opuntia A/S: CK IN2U Post Shave: Proraso Green Balm, Nivea Hyaluron Gel
Tonight we have reached SV Saturday once more and so I have picked Opuntia from the lineup. The Purple Mink is another good synthetic brush that doesn't fling lather around, I am lucky enough that a number of my cheaper brushes are not flingers, I don't like a brush with too much backbone, I prefer a softer more luxurious feel.
The P74 put on another good show and left me with another great smooth finish.
SV Desert Vetiver is definitely stronger than other SV soaps in their lineup. It is well balanced and complex. I find it to beautifully blend floral notes with just a hint of black pepper and sweetness.

Razor: Muhle R41 Blade: Personna 74(59) Brush: Yaqi Purple Haze Soap: SV 70th Anniversary A/S: Clinique Happy For Men Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel
SV Saturday has rolled around again and it was time to cue up my favourite, 70th Anniversary. I went with the Purple Haze to lather it and if you haven't already guessed I once more loaded up the P74 into the R41. I have now reached 2 months of shaves from this blade and tomorrow's shave will equal my all time record of 60 shaves with a single blade. I have found that vintage blades seem to perform better, and last longer for me than current production blades. I will be starting into my third month with the P74 tomorrow.
I used Cubebe for SV Saturday, and got a perfect bowl-lather.
The Boots blade felt a lot smoother on its second shave — most blades do here. Got a comfortable near-BBS. The Windrose titanium handle gets the Rockwell down to 88g, 30g lighter than the original.

Razor: Muhle R41 Blade: Personna 74(66) Brush: Yaqi Purple Mink Soap: SV Opuntia A/S: CK IN2U Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel
Tonight for SV Saturday i pulled out Opuntia for the shave and lathered with the Purple Mink. Yes I am still using the P74 with the R41 and still getting good results. Sometimes I get a poor result but most of the time the finish is pretty smooth. SV soaps usually give me a good result and this shave was no exception. Just a touch of roughness on one side of my jawline showed it was most likely user error.
Used Opuntia for SV Saturday, and got a perfect bowl-lather. I don't think there's any difference in performance, but Opuntia has a better scent than Cubebe. Took my time, for a comfortable near-BBS.
Nivea 2-in-1 (or 2-Phase Aftershave Lotion, as the UK version called itself) is excellent stuff — shake it to emulsify, like a salad dressing, and enjoy the smooth result.

Razor: Muhle R41 Blade: Personna 74(73) Brush: Yaqi Evil Zebra Soap: SV Desert Vetiver A/S: Davidoff Cool Water Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel
Tonight for SV Saturday I decided on Desert Vetiver lathered with the Evil Zebra for that fresh scent. I also loaded the P74 into the R41 to see if a good soap would make a difference to the performance tonight. The shave was fine, but even though it was better than the last couple of shaves the finish on my neck was still not as good as it should be. At 73 shaves I think this blade has earned a rest in the blade bank and I will be so sorry to see it go and I'm kind of at a loss now that I'll have to use another blade.
