Look around a bit and you can find a ton of threads and videos on the subject.
In a nutshell, always use an edge trailing stroke and try to keep the blade flat on the strop. Hold the blade lightly and try not to change your arm position throughout the stroke- turn the blade with your fingers rather than by moving your wrist. Apply as little pressure as you can. Try 20-30 round trips on the canvas side, followed by 50-60 on the leather. You shouldn't require any pastes or conditioners for quite some time. Make sure that you rotate the blade at the end of the stroke by keeping the spine on the strop, not the edge. It's easy to master.
